It's a band geek life.

Hello peoples!

So my school's band is almost ready to put our opener out on the field. We have 2 1/2 rehearsals before the show, and that's it, I will be free from having to wear the sousaphone all rehearsal (I hope...). My sousaphone is killing not my left shoulder, where the sousaphone rests, but rather my right shoulder. I think it has something to do with the fact that my extension is too small. Either that, or it's because the sousaphone was obviously made with a larger sized person's ability to fit in mind. I am not a larger sized person. In fact, you might be able to fit two of me in that thing. The sousaphone is also fixing my posture, which causes my back to throw out slightly whenever I chase person D around the band room at lunch.

Oh that reminds me, I've created a new system to speak about people with out putting their names in. All people are not person A, B, C ect. once I get to Z (if I get to Z) I'm going to have person AA, BB, CC, ect. If you want to know who you are, ask me and I will tell you your letter (or tell you that I have not assigned you one).

Back to band... Jazz band is coming up, and since person A said that they thought I should do it, I'm going to talk to Mrs. Band Director about getting a trombone to use so I can start practicing, because it's harder to switch to a trombone, than to a tuba. That said, I don't have a mouthpiece, and I already have to pay $55 for a new tuba mouthpiece. At this rate I will never be able to pay for my plane tickets for this summer.

My mother has made me really happy because she called somebody about piano lessons. I have been teaching myself to play piano for a year or two, and now I can learn how to play it properly.

When my dad started drilling me about this (he's in Guam) I told him about Person B's master plan for me. This plan is basically that after I learn piano, I need to learn guitar, then get a drumset, then a violin, and then a sax, and then a flute. After all this I will supposedly be ready to be a band director. I'm not quite sure what happened, but I think somehow I'm getting a guitar for Xmas. This makes me feel like a hypocrite because Person E and I were arguing about whether or not guitar or piano was better, and I was arguing piano... Ah well, life likes to be ironic.

Since Mrs. Band Director comes back tomorrow I think that there's going to be a section leader/drum major meeting, which will be relief because I am tired of playing the same music over and over again every day... I wish we had concert music to work on :(

Okay, I need to go, because I need to find out what rise over run, Y=mx+b and all that muck means.
